MKV expands sorting capacities for hybrid components

The company is constructing an automated separation and sorting plant specifically for plastic-metal composites.

With the new plant, MKV aims to meet the growing demand from industry for solutions for recycling complex hybrid components. Until now, such material streams could only be processed on a small scale, according to the company. The recycling specialist and compounder MKV, based in Beselich-Obertiefenbach, has invested around 500,000 euros in expanding its sorting capacities. The new line, which consists of a metal separation system from Sesotech (see photo) and a shredder from Zeno, is said to be also designed to separate fine particles and, for the first time, enable the separation of complex hybrid components by type on a larger scale. The aim is to promote plastics recycling and improve resource efficiency. According to MKV, commissioning is planned for the first quarter of 2026; initially, waste from production will be processed, and later it will also be possible to sort PCR waste. According to the company, an expansion to include NIR and color sorting is also planned and will be implemented as needed.
