Medium-sized company Burwinkel receives CSR award from the German government

The Mühlen-based company received the award in the category ‘Constructive Stakeholder Engagement’
Since 2013, the German government's CSR award has been presented to companies that exemplify corporate social responsibility. According to the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS), the fifth award ceremony in 2025 focused on measures in the categories ‘Good Business Practices’, ‘Constructive Stakeholder Engagement’, ‘Digital Tools for Transparent Supply Chains’, ‘Effective Training’ and ‘Climate & Biodiversity’. Among others, the jury deemed Burwinkel Kunststoffe from Steinfeld (Mühlen) worthy of an award for its production process developed in collaboration with relevant stakeholders. The company received the award in the category ‘Constructive Stakeholder Involvement’. With its holistic CSR approach, the plastics processor prevailed in a strong field of 150 applicants, including large companies such as Deutsche Post AG / DHL Group and EnBW. Burwinkel stands for sustainable plastics production and promotes the use of recycled materials, said laudator Birgit Riess, Director of Sustainable Social Market Economy at the Bertelsmann Foundation. Through workshops and collaborations, Burwinkel supported knowledge exchange within the industry and with its various stakeholders and would be an example of how medium-sized companies can take responsibility. Managing Director Martin Burwinkel said: "We are very proud to have won this important award as a medium-sized company from the Oldenburg Münsterland region. The award shows that sustainability can be a winning strategy. Not only on the stage of a CSR award like this, but also as a company – through economic stability and future prospects." Burwinkel emphasised that the award was won together with the employees and partners. It encouraged the company to continue on its path towards a sustainable future for the plastics industry.
