Berlin Packaging, Rixius & RIGK launch partnership
The strategic partnership is designed to support commercial and industrial packaging users in complying with regulatory requirements in accordance with the law.
The partnership is intended to simplify the process from packaging use through to verifiable recovery – with a view to the use of recycled materials and closed-loop options, according to a joint statement by the packaging manufacturer Berlin Packaging Rixius GmbH and RIGK GmbH. Packaging users in industry and commerce are said to be, more than ever, facing the challenge of reconciling increasing requirements arising from packaging legislation, EU regulations and internal sustainability targets with their operational processes. The collaboration between Berlin Packaging Rixius and RIGK is to combine packaging expertise and customer focus with know-how in take-back, recovery and compliance. Together, the aim is to develop a structured and practical approach to returning plastic packaging to material cycles in compliance with the law. Companies would thus receive support from the initial classification, through the selection of suitable take-back options, right through to organisational implementation and traceable documentation. This is intended to ease the burden on packaging users, particularly in terms of compliance certainty, when determining their obligations and providing evidence in the context of the Packaging Act (VerpackDG), the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) and the LUCID Regulation. Furthermore, the operational workload would be reduced through continuous support for take-back, recycling and organisational implementation, with clear points of contact. Finally, with regard to the use of recycled materials and closed-loop approaches, the structured take-back and recovery process could also improve collection quality and recyclability.
