Alpla successfully concludes 2025 financial year
Despite the difficult global economic situation, the packaging and recycling specialist increased its turnover by around 5 per cent from €4.9 billion to €5.2 billion.
In terms of headcount and number of locations, Alpla recorded an increase to around 25,500 employees and 206 plants in 2025, the company announced. According to the information provided, business in North and South America and in the extrusion blow moulding (EBM) sector developed particularly positively. Investments in locations and technologies, the establishment of training programmes in the USA and the entry into the South American recycling market have contributed to the upturn, the company said.
In the recycling sector, however, results were mixed, which Alpla attributes to uncertainties in EU regulations and the ongoing price problem for recyclates. ‘New material is many times cheaper than recycled material. As demand falls and costs rise, there is a growing risk of low-quality imports from third countries. If the EU does not take countermeasures, the PPWR will backfire,’ warns CCO Nicolas Lehner. With new recycling targets for 2030, the company intends to continue playing a pioneering role in the circular economy despite the challenges in the recycling market. Alpla also refers to a cooperation launched in December 2025 with the NTCP technology institute in the Netherlands for the production of food-grade HDPE recycled material. The company aims to increase the proportion of post-consumer recycled material (PCR) to 30 per cent by 2030. According to Alpla, the currently installed and planned output capacity of 400,000 tonnes is to be expanded to 700,000 tonnes, with around 15 million Euro per year to be invested in recycling from 2026 onwards.
