TecPart expert Frank Stammer leads EU plastics standardization group

Frank Stammer from TecPart – Verband Technische Kunststoff-Produkte e.V. is the new chair of the EU Circular Plastics Coordination Group in CEN/CENELEC.

Frank Stammer, TecPart's circular economy specialist, was elected chair of the CEN/CENELEC Circular Plastics Coordination Group on 23 October 2024 and now heads the European standardization body for plastics recycling and design for recyclability. Frank Stammer said on his appointment: “Legislation and standardization are working hard to create a reliable framework for a European circular economy in the field of plastics. The numerous standards we are currently working on will shape the plastics value chain and the market in Europe for decades to come.” He was aware of this responsibility and looked forward to working with all parties involved. CEN/CENELEC is the joint body of the European standardization organizations. The Circular Plastics Group monitors and coordinates standards related to plastic recycling and the recyclable design of plastic products. It acts as a link between the various technical committees working on standardization tasks and between standardization and the European Commission bodies.

In the official announcement by CEN/CENELEC, the election of Frank Stammer was highlighted as an important step for the continued work and lasting commitment of all involved in the coordination group, according to a TecPart press release. With his extensive experience and foresight, Stammer is said to be ideally qualified for the role. Stammer, who already chairs the European standardization body for plastics recycling, will succeed Gerald Feigenbutz of Qualitätsverband Kunststofferzeugnisse e.V. in the Circular Plastics Coordination Group.
