Rob Ingram is the new president of Plastics Europe
Ingram has held the position at Plastics Europe, the European association of plastics manufacturers, since the beginning of January 2026.
According to the association, Ingram, who has been CEO of plastics manufacturer Ineos Olefins & Polymers Europe since 2018, was appointed as the new president of Plastics Europe on 17 December 2025, when he was elected by the General Assembly to succeed Benny Mermans, Vice President of Sustainability at Chevron Phillips Chemical. Virginia Janssens, Managing Director of Plastics Europe, thanked Mermans for his decades of commitment to the industry and emphasised her confidence in Ingram's future leadership. She said Ingram would focus on advancing the association's transformation roadmap, the Plastics Transition. According to this roadmap, 65 per cent of plastics in Europe should be circular and climate-neutral by 2050. The initiative, published in November 2023, presented the first joint industry-wide approach to redesigning the European plastics system. As chair of the Transition Roadmap Committee, Ingram was reportedly instrumental in translating the industry's strategic goals into an implementation framework in collaboration with various stakeholders. Ingram brings more than 30 years of experience in the chemical and plastics industry to his new role as President of Plastics Europe, according to Plastics Europe. Prior to his appointment as CEO of Ineos Olefins & Polymers Europe, Ingram held a number of commercial and operational management positions in international companies.
At its General Assembly on 17 December 2025, Plastics Europe also elected three Vice-Presidents: Stephanie Kalil, Commercial Vice-President for Packaging and Specialty Plastics at Dow; Craig Arnold, Executive Vice-President – Polyolefins, Basic Chemicals (HC&E) and Circular Economy Solutions at Borealis; and Lauren Kjelsen, Member of the Executive Committee and Chief Operating Officer Custom Solutions at Evonik.
