Revalyu Resources expands chemical PET recycling in India

The subsidiary of the German Heraeus Group is investing 100 million dollars in the world's largest chemical recycling plant for PET plastics.

Revalyu Resources, a global chemical PET recycling company, has opened a second PET recycling plant with a total production capacity of 240 tons per day at its site in Nashik, according to a statement. The new plant reportedly consists of two lines, with the first line now in operation producing 120 tons of 100 percent recycled PET per day. The second production line is scheduled to be commissioned in the third quarter of 2025. Together with the existing plant with a capacity of 40 tons per day, this would give the Nashik, India, site a total production capacity of 280 tons per day. An advanced glycolysis-based recycling technology is said to be used. The process is to use 75 percent less water and 91 percent less energy to produce recycled PET than conventional PET production.

Dr. Vivek Tandon, founder of the Revalyu Group, said of the launch of the new plant: “This is a revolutionary moment for the PET plastic recycling industry. The world finally has a commercially proven, scalable and sustainable recycling technology that can convert used PET plastic into PET polymers of comparable quality to those produced using conventional methods.” Revalyu Resources plans to commission a second 240-metric-ton-per-day PET recycling plant in the United States in 2027 and to expand globally through partnerships to exceed 1,000 metric tons per day by 2030.
