Plastyx: Joint Venture between Agilyx and Monreal

The newly established Plastyx Ltd. is to source and supply feedstock for chemical recycling.
Chemical recycler Agilyx ASA and Spanish recycling entrepreneur Carlos Monreal announced the establishment of the joint venture Plastyx on 24 March. The company, which is reportedly a 60:40 joint venture between Agilyx and Circular Resources SARL, is expected to purchase 200,000 tonnes of plastic waste and conclude corresponding supply contracts by the end of this year. Plastyx was founded to bridge the gap between the increasing demand for high-quality recycled plastics and the still limited supply of suitable raw materials, according to the founders. The new joint venture aims to establish itself as the leading raw material supplier for the European plastics recycling industry, according to the statement. It will particularly focus on the procurement and supply of polymers for food-grade and demanding packaging applications.
Carlos Monreal is to take over the management of the company. ‘I am looking forward to starting this new phase,’ said Monreal. Having developed advanced recycling facilities and invested in the Grüner-Punkt Group as Chairman and CEO of Plastic Energy, the natural next step for him would be to focus on the procurement of raw materials. The partnership with Agilyx offers a unique opportunity to scale the shared vision, according to Monreal.
