The board of directors of PlasticsEurope Deutschland e. V. has appointed M.Sc Carolina Hupfer and Dr. Alexander Kronimus as managing directors, according to the association. In 2022, Dr. Alexander Kronimus joined Plastics Europe Deutschland from the German Chemical Industry Association (VCI) and has since headed the Climate Protection and Circular Economy division. The two new managing directors are jointly responsible for strategic alignment, positioning, partnerships and personnel issues and report to the association's chief executive officer, Ingemar Bühler. According to the association's own statements, the board and management have worked intensively in recent months to redefine the role of Plastics Europe Deutschland. This included important issues around personnel, skills and mindset within the team. "During this time, in addition to our common goals, we have been united by the enjoyment of our jobs. I look forward to continuing to work with the entire team," says Kronimus. Hupfer adds, "The three of us have asked ourselves many uncomfortable questions and, I think, found many good answers. For now, because these are just the first steps." Together, they want to actively shape the future of the industry, because in their view, the transformation to a circular economy needs agile doers and strong ambassadors. "We want to make our organization fit for the future, represent our member companies effectively, play an active role in shaping the dialog with society and politics, and provide impetus for the public discourse surrounding plastics" says CEO Bühler.
