At Altstoff Recycling Austria (ARA), Harald Haucke and Martin Prieler will succeed Christoph Scharff at the end of the month.
After 14 years at the helm of the Austrian collection and recycling company, Christoph Scharff is handing over the reins of ARA to current sales director Harald Hauke, who will become spokesman for the board, the company announced. Martin Prieler is to take over Scharff's business areas of production, IT and finance as a new board member from October 1, 2022. Prieler, who has a degree in computer science, most recently worked as a consultant on automation projects within the circular economy, including for ARA. As the new board duo, Haucke and Prieler want to place an increased focus on recycling-friendly packaging, higher recycling efficiency and the production of high-quality secondary raw materials. "With the EU Circular Economy Package and its high recycling targets, the standardization of plastic collection from 2023 and the deposit on disposables from 2025, the economy and the population will face new challenges. This makes it all the more important for us to have a continuous exchange with the stakeholders concerned. Only in this way can we, as part of the system-relevant infrastructure, offer security and at the same time innovative solutions for the collection, sorting and recycling of packaging," says the new CEO Harald Hauke, describing the upcoming focal points of the company's work. Together with Duales System Holding (DSD, Cologne) and Bernegger (Molln, Austria), a specialist for environmental technology and railroad logistics, ARA is currently building the largest sorting facility for plastic packaging in Austria.
