Chemical company LyondellBasell and styrene producer Ineos Styrolution have joined the Cyclyx International joint venture (Porthmouth, USA) as founding members. A growing number of companies - 18 companies are currently involved in the initiative - are thus committed to a more sustainable future for plastics as a material. The specific aim of the initiative, led by recycling specialist Agilyx, is to increase the recycling rate of plastics to 90 percent. LyondellBasell will contribute knowledge and experience to Cyclyx against a backdrop of numerous investments of its own in recycling technologies and collaborations to promote recycling infrastructure and end markets for recyclates. Both LyondellBasell and Ineos Styrolution fill leadership positions within the joint venture.
