In conversation with: Georg-Menges-Prize winner Markus Lüling

Portrait of Markus Lüling

The editor-in-chief of the trade magazine K-Profi is a great believer in research findings that contribute to a non-ideological discussion about plastics.

In early March 2026, Lüling became the first journalist ever to be honoured with the prestigious Georg-Menges Prize. He received the award for his tireless commitment to knowledge transfer between research and industrial practice. In this interview, we talk to him about the importance of specialist journalism, the circular economy, regulatory hurdles and the ‘recyclate dilemma’. We also asked him how he assesses the current state of AI and automation in the industry and where he sees Germany’s strengths as a business location.
