Georg Pescher is the new President of the IK

ALPLA Managing Director Georg Pescher has been elected as the new President of the IK Industrievereinigung Kunststoffverpackungen.

This was announced by the IK, the association of plastic packaging manufacturers in Germany. The new IK President Georg Pescher has reported by IK been committed to the interests of the plastic packaging industry in the IK for many years - particularly in the PET Beverage Bottles Forum. In his new role, Pescher succeeds Roland Straßburger. He held the position for six years. The handover took place at the IK General Assembly in Frankfurt/Oberursel. Vice President Christian Claes (Profectus Films) and Treasurer Hans Bresele (allvac Folien) were confirmed for a further term of office. Dr Christoph Strubl was elected Vice President in 2022.

As IK President, Pescher wants to advocate for a fair public perception of sustainable plastic packaging and balanced regulation in order to promote climate protection and conserve resources. ‘The same rules for everyone must be the order of the day if European packaging regulation is to become a functioning component of the Green Deal, but also of the EU internal market. Facts must count,’ said Pescher in his inaugural speech. The association and its 300 members could achieve a great deal by actively communicating, representing positions and, above all, opening their factory gates to politicians, the media and the interested public. The plastics packaging industry was a relevant factor in Germany as a business location, and Pescher wants to help ensure that this remains the case in his new role. The engineering graduate has worked for the ALPLA Group for 15 years, initially as plant manager for ten years and for almost five years as Managing Director for Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.
