The 300 ml bottle is a joint development by packaging and recycling specialist Alpla and Zerooo initiator SEA ME GmbH.
 

The reusable PET bottle for cosmetics and care products is reportedly reusable and fully recyclable. It is said to have been developed together with the Sea Me GmbH team in Alpla's own design studio at the company headquarters in Hard. The first brands of shampoo, shower gel, washing-up liquid, body lotion and dental care products are to be launched in the 300 ml PET bottle from September. The bottle is to be available in three colors and will be suitable for all closures. Further formats are planned. A laser-engraved code - the ID of the Zerooo reusable system for cosmetics and drugstores - is said to provide information on the contents and circulation of each bottle. “Digital labeling ensures transparency and guarantees the quality of the bottles. It can also be enriched with additional product data by combining it with the information from the label,” explains Jörg Schwärzler, Senior Technology Manager at Alpla. The returnable PET bottles were compatible with all automatic return systems. According to Alpla and Zerooo, they can already be returned to around 1,000 retail partners in Germany and Austria for a deposit of 0.50 euros. At the end of their life cycle, the bottles and caps are to be sorted by type and recycled.
