FBCA: new global association for beverage cartons

The beverage carton industry has founded the new ‘Food and Beverage Carton Alliance’ (FBCA) based in Brussels.

As the FBCA reports, the association was formed by the merger of the ACE (Alliance for Beverage Cartons and the Environment) organisation and the Extract recycling platform, both of which are committed to the collection and recycling of beverage cartons. The aim of the newly founded FBCA is to bring together beverage carton manufacturers and their carton suppliers to promote sustainable packaging solutions. These should improve food safety, reduce waste and promote a low-carbon, circular economy. Together with industry leaders and global stakeholders, the FBCA also aims to contribute to the development of regulatory frameworks for food packaging at the global level. ‘Our industry is working tirelessly to develop fully renewable and sustainable packaging solutions that meet the needs of consumers and the planet,’ explains Patrick Verhelst, President of the FBCA Board. ‘Through the global centres of expertise, advocacy and communication of the FBCA, we will provide the necessary evidence and benchmarks to lead the way in sustainability,’ adds Annick Carpentier, FBCA Managing Director for Global Advocacy.
