Fakuma is presenting the ‘Innovation Award’ for the first time to mark its 30th edition

The Fakuma Innovation Award is being presented for the first time to mark the trade fair’s anniversary and is intended to provide a platform for innovations across the entire value chain – from recycling and extrusion through to materials, automation and digital production technology, according to the organiser, P. E. Schall. The international trade fair for plastics processing will take place in Friedrichshafen from Monday 12 October to Friday 16 October 2026. On the very first day of the fair, P. E. Schall, together with its media partner K-Zeitung, will host the award ceremony. The deadline for submitting projects in one of the six categories – injection moulding, extrusion, recycling, tool and mould making/thermoforming, compounding and materials, as well as enablers of plastics technology (peripheral equipment) – is 6 September. Entry to the awards is free of charge. An entry requirement is that the project must be capable of being showcased live at Fakuma 2026 – for example, as a production-ready product, a functional prototype or a live technology demonstration, the organisers add. According to the trade fair organiser Schall, entries for the Fakuma Innovation Award will be assessed by independent experts from industry, academia and the specialist media.
 
In addition to the awards ceremony and the presentation of new products and solutions, the trade fair will once again feature specialist presentations as part of a forum, as well as a round-table discussion – this time on the topic ‘Building on Strengths – How Can the European Plastics Industry Enhance Its Resilience?’. Further programme highlights include a Careers Friday organised by the trade fair advisory boards and Plastics Europe Deutschland, where interested school pupils, students and those starting their careers can find out about training and career opportunities, as well as specific job profiles within the plastics industry. In addition, according to the trade fair organisers, the Paul Eberhard Schall Medal will be awarded for the first time to mark the 30th anniversary. The award is to be presented to a company that has played a pioneering and formative role in the industry.
