As the specialty chemicals group has announced, all activities in the field of recycling plastics are to be bundled in a Global Circular Plastics Program for this purpose. Within the framework of this programme, Evonik aims to generate additional sales of more than 350 million euros per year from 2030. As the company announced in Essen, it wants to offer customers solutions at competitive costs for the recycling of plastics, but also increasingly use raw materials from circular sources within its own group. The recycling solutions should include both mechanical recycling for easily separable plastic waste and chemical recycling for contaminated and mixed plastic waste. With additives and technologies from Evonik, it should be possible to make both process routes more efficient. The path to a circular economy is inextricably linked to the careful use of resources and climate protection, says Harald Schwager, Vice Chairman of the Executive Board of Evonik and responsible for innovation. "We have the innovative power to design new material loops with less and less fossil and more and more circular raw materials. We will use this potential," Schwager adds.
