According to Euwid, the vote is scheduled for the TAC Committee meeting on February 6.

If the TAC Committee (Technical Adaptation Committee) approves the technical adaptation of waste legislation, the planned implementing act for the EU Single-Use Plastics Directive (SUPD) could be adopted and then published in the EU Official Journal, according to Euwid. It would then enter into force on the twentieth day after its publication. The European Commission recently presented the draft implementing decision on calculating the PET recyclate content of single-use beverage bottles to representatives of the member states. Among other things, the implementing decision contains a definition of “recycled plastic” and specifications for a mass balance method for accounting for chemically recycled PET waste. It is intended to replace a decision from 2023 that only referred to mechanical recycling processes. In addition, the proposal stipulates that, until November 21, 2027, companies may only count PET recyclates from post-consumer waste produced in the EU toward the legal quotas. The BDE welcomed this proposal, while the IK Industrievereinigung Kunststoffverpackungen criticized the draft.
