Specialty chemicals group Clariant says it has joined the Circular Plastics Alliance (CPA).
The CPA, an EU alliance, aims to bring plastics recycling in line with the objectives of the EU's Circular Economy Action Plan and with the European Green Deal. By joining this alliance, Clariant aims to align the plastics value chain more closely with the circular economy through partnerships and collaborations. As a member, the Swiss company is now committed to the alliance's goal of increasing the use of recyclates in new products to ten million tons by 2025. To achieve this, Clariant aims in particular to remove the obstacles that stand in the way of greater recycling. To this end, all options for reduction, reuse and recycling - both mechanical and chemical - are to be intelligently combined. As early as 2019, Clariant created Ecocircle, a company-wide platform that can be used to identify sustainable and viable solutions for recycling plastics across the entire value chain.
