BKV Symposium on Plastics Circularity
The symposium will take place on 18 November 2025 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Saarland State Representation in Berlin.
This year's BKV Symposium agenda will once again feature presentations and discussions on the latest BKV studies, this time under the title ‘Plastics Circularity: Sustainable Recovery and Technologies’. Petra Berg, Saarland's Minister for the Environment, Climate, Mobility, Agriculture and Consumer Protection, will open the event with a video welcome address. Matthias Stechhan, LyondellBasell and Chairman of the BKV Advisory Board, will then give a welcoming address.
The first session in the morning will cover a wide range of topics: from the global plastics flow with current data and facts on the production, consumption and recycling of plastics worldwide, to high-quality management of plastics production and the life cycle of plastics, to recycling ‘on a large scale’. The afternoon will focus on specific processes. Study results on the topics of reuse, various recycling processes and on the use of recyclates in the automotive sector will be presented.
Together with experts from the plastics industry and the two renowned institutes Berndt+Partner Consultants GmbH and Conversio Market & Strategy GmbH, the panel discussions will feature Tom Ohlendorf from the World Wide Fund For Nature Germany (WWF) and Professor Kathrin Greiff from RWTH Aachen University, as well as industry representatives from the chemical, electrical and plastics processing sectors.
The event will be hosted by Dr Frank Buckel, responsible for the technical plastics division at Covestro Deutschland AG and spokesperson for the BKV Technical Committee.
Registration for the BKV symposium (free of charge) is open until 3 November 2025 at this link: https://forms.office.com/e/VW9pn9HGPs?origin=lprLink
