BKV Report 2025–2026 published
The latest report contains statements from the managing directors of the PED, GKV and VDMA associations and provides an overview of the BKV’s work and studies.
BKV GmbH is a think tank and centre of excellence for the German plastics industry. It brings together plastics producers, processors and machinery manufacturers under one umbrella. The aim of the platform is to use its expertise from studies and projects to facilitate a fact-based discussion on the topics of resource efficiency and the circular economy for plastics, thereby contributing to solutions for a competitive, sustainable and modern plastics industry.
In this year’s BKV Report, the managing directors of the associations Plastics Europe Deutschland (PED), Gesamtverband Kunststoffverarbeitende Industrie (German Plastics Processing Industry Association, GKV) and VDMA Kunststoff- und Gummimaschinen (Plastics and Rubber Machinery) each provide brief statements on the current situation in their respective sectors. The current issues and challenges posed by the latest legislative frameworks will also be addressed in the BKV’s projects in 2026. BKV studies focus, for example, on recyclability and the use of recycled materials in accordance with packaging and end-of-life vehicle regulations, as well as on the global plastics flow. The new study on “Plastics Flow in Germany” is also currently in progress. The most recently published studies cover the following topics:
- End-of-Life Vehicles Regulation (ELVR) – Fulfilment of recycled content target in EU-27+3 (published in March 2026)
- Reuse targets in the PPWR and possible exemptions from reuse obligations (published in February 2026)
- Chemical recycling in Germany: Status quo 2024 and forecast until 2030/35 (published in November 2025)
- Global Plastics Flow 2023 (published in October 2025)
The current report not only provides an overview of all BKV studies, but also offers an insight into the activities and structure of the BKV.
