The energy recovery of plastic waste as a component of refuse-derived fuel (RDF) has become established in Germany. The study, which was commissioned by the former tecpol GmbH, provides a comprehensive description of the current situation regarding the utilisation of substitute fuels in RDF power plants. This includes the framework conditions, the qualities produced, the technologies used, the locations and the capacities. In addition, the study deals with the substitution contribution of RDF power plants in terms of energy demand as well as the CO2 reduction potential of the RDF used compared to fossil fuels.
